The Role – IT Technician

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on IT Manager to lead and manage the Group's IT operations from our Malta office.

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of all IT systems while driving continuous improvements across the Group. You will work closely with external IT service providers, software vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure and scalable technology solutions.

In addition to providing technical support and systems administration, you will lead IT-related projects, identify opportunities to improve business processes through technology, and ensure that the Group's IT infrastructure remains secure, compliant and fit for future growth.

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day IT operations across all Group companies.

  • Ensure the availability, performance and reliability of IT infrastructure and business systems.

  • Coordinate with external IT providers to resolve technical issues and implement improvements.

  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for optimisation.

 

User Support

  • Provide first and second-line technical support to employees across multiple locations.

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking and mobile device issues.

  • Ensure incidents and service requests are resolved efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service.

  • Escalate complex issues where necessary and coordinate resolution with third-party providers.

 

IT Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Manage the complete IT onboarding and offboarding process.

  • Prepare and configure laptops, mobile devices and peripherals.

  • Create, modify and deactivate user accounts across all business systems.

  • Manage Microsoft 365 licences and user permissions.

  • Ensure secure recovery of company equipment and removal of system access.

 

Systems Administration

  • Administer Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.

  • Manage Active Directory and user access rights.

  • Support cloud services, backup solutions and endpoint management.

  • Maintain documentation of systems, procedures and configurations.

 

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Maintain and improve the Group's cybersecurity posture.

  • Manage identity and access management, multi-factor authentication and security policies.

  • Coordinate vulnerability remediation with external partners.

  • Support compliance with applicable regulatory and information security requirements, including GDPR and aviation-related standards such as Part-IS.

  • Assist with internal and external IT audits.

 

IT Asset Management

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets.

  • Manage the procurement, deployment and lifecycle of IT equipment.

  • Coordinate equipment repairs, warranties and replacements.

  • Monitor software licensing and renewals.

 

IT Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and coordinate IT projects from planning through implementation.

  • Work with business stakeholders to identify technology solutions that improve operational efficiency.

  • Support the implementation of new business applications and digital initiatives.

  • Coordinate system upgrades, migrations and infrastructure improvements.

  • Recommend new technologies and best practices to support the Group's growth.

 

Vendor Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external IT suppliers and software vendors.

  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure agreed service levels are achieved.

  • Assist in managing IT budgets related to hardware, software and services.

  • Participate in evaluating new technology solutions and negotiating with suppliers.

Job requirements

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Active Directory.

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.

  • Experience with Windows and macOS environments.

  • Good understanding of networking principles, VPNs and endpoint management.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, MFA, endpoint protection and access management.

  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.

  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting would be considered an asset.

Languages

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

  • French is a plus.
